Our ministerial settlement rep, Rev. Keith Kron, has reviewed both our Congregational Record and packet materials and says “I was thoroughly wowed by pretty much everything.”
Thank you to the 60+ people who attended our Beyond Categorical Thinking Workshop, which was informative, engaging, and surprising! If you weren’t there, please ask someone who attended to tell you more about it.
We are entering our data into the online version of the Congregational Record (CR) on the UUA’s Transition site and preparing the password-protected Web site that will house our packet materials. The CR will be published by October 31st, the date prospective ministers begin looking for congregations in search. If you want to know what’s included in our packet, details are on the Search Committee’s Web page: http://www.firstparish.org/cms/about-first-parish/transition/ministerial-search-committee.
We will NOT be getting names of interested ministers until the beginning of December.
Today’s Challenge (adapted from the BCT Workshop): UUA Case Study #1 (this really happened!)
A newly called African-American minister is excited to join her new congregation. One third of parishioners hope she will finally address racial issues. Another third are congratulating themselves on choosing her and feel no further discussion of racism is necessary. The final third are worried that all she will do is preach about race. How does the new minister deal with this and whose problem is it?
