We continue digging deep into ministerial packets, listening to sermons, and we interview our first candidate via Skype this week. There are some truly exceptional candidates interested in us!
We also received our 25th applicant just yesterday and are now looking at that ministerial record to see if we want to exchange packets.
We are operating in confidential mode but will communicate as much generic information as we can. Confidentiality requires your participation too. So, if you should accidentally discover something about a candidate under consideration, please keep that information to yourself.
Now Consider This! (adapted from the BCT Workshop): UUA Case Study #8 (a true UU story)
Suppose we select a candidate of South Asian decent. Several parishioners wonder if he will be sexist toward women, citing Bollywood films they’ve seen and other Indians they’ve known. One woman would like to ask the candidate about this directly and openly but is afraid to ask. She isn’t sure how to even pose the questions. How should this be dealt with?
