This week the Ministerial Search Committee officially asked the UUA to close applications for First Parish, which means we will not receive any new applicants. We continue focusing on this winter’s three pre-candidate weekends where the entire committee gets to know each and attends a service where each one preaches. You can see a sample schedule for these weekends on our FP Web Page <http://www.firstparish.org/cms/about-first-parish/transition/ministerial-search-committee>. The schedule is adjusted to the particular needs and interests of each pre-candidate.
You will get to meet our final candidate during the week, April 28 – May 5, 2013. Our congregational vote to call a new Senior Minister will be held May 5, 2013 at 12:30 PM. Please remember that only signed members can vote. And according to our bylaws, you must become a member by April 5th in order to participate.
Now Consider This! (adapted from the BCT Workshop): UUA Case Study #12 (a true UU story)
A search committee considers calling a minister who has a disability that is treated with regular medication. One member of the committee voices concern that selecting this person might send the wrong message to the wider community. How would you address this concern?
