Toxic Tour in Roxbury with the UU Urban Ministry on Fri, July 24 at 1:30 PM
The Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministries program has developed a relationship with Roxbury-based ACE – Alternatives for Community & Environment – which “builds the power of communities of color and low-income communities in Massachusetts to eradicate environmental racism and classism, create healthy, sustainable communities, and achieve environmental justice.” ACE provides “Toxic Tours” in the community – showing visitors sites impacted by environmental racism. UUUM is partnering with ACE to gather UU groups to take the tour.
One UUUM-sponsored inaugural tours is scheduled for Friday July 24. We will gather at 1:30 pm at UUUM, and walk together to ACE. The tour will last approx. 2 hours, and suggested donation to ACE is $20 per person. UUUM Executive Director and Senior Minister, Rev. Mary Margaret Earl and Rev. Rebecca Hinds will accompany the tour.
Let Wendy Holt (wen...@dmahealth.com) know if you are interested, and she will assist in coordinating with the UUUM.
Update on UUSC Nepal Relief Donation
This past spring, our congregation donated over $8,000 to support the UUSC’s Nepal Earthquake Relief. Here is an update on how that donation is being put to use: http://uusc.tumblr.com/post/123561887580/were-working-with-chetana-an-awesome-teacher-run.
