From Gail Carey - our new Children's Choir Director

Dear First Parish RE Families,

I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce myself before the new church year gets rolling.  I am Gail Carey, the new Children's Choir Director at First Parish.  Come this September, I will be leading both the Junior Choir and Chalice Choir here at the church.  Knowing that First Parish is a congregation with rich musical tradition, I consider it a blessing to be joining you all.  I am very excited to get started!

Now is the time to register your child for choir – if you have not yet done so. Registration forms are posted as  PDF's on the First Parish website http://www.firstparish.org/cms/content/view/90/59/.  They may be downloaded, filled out and returned to the church.

Please know that any and all are welcome.  My goal is to make choir a fun and inclusive music experience.  We will touch on musical styles ranging music of our own historical UU tradition to folk, world music and gospel.  There will be opportunities for the choirs to both sing alone, together and in combination with our other parish choirs.  We have some very fun intergenerational choir ideas in store!  There is no singing experience necessary.  If you have any questions at all about registration, please feel free to contact me directly. 

Oh—and if you are a musician or singer and wish to help in any way with the choirs, please do let me know.  There's room for much fun here.

PS—

Please plan on staying for the duration of choir rehearsal on the first day, September 10^th.  This will be an informal orientation day with children and parents together.
