Dr. Bruce B. Lawrence is the Nancy and Jeffrey Marcus Humanities Professor of Religion Emeritus at Duke University.  A distinguished Islamicist and historian of religions, Lawrence has authored, edited, or co-edited some sixteen books, including The Qur’an: A Biography (Grove Atlantic, 2007), New Faiths, Old Fears: Muslims and Other Asian Immigrants in American Religious Life (Columbia University Press, 2002), and (with miriam cooke), Muslim Networks from Hajj to Hip Hop (University of North Carolina Press, 2005).
