This week Is World Communion Sunday and the Peace Making offering will
be received. Rev. Peggy Casteel will be preaching and the Adult Choir
will be singing. Two Adult Nurture classes commence at 11:00.
“Saving Jesus” will help us to reflect on Jesus, who sometimes seems
kidnapped by some of us on the Right and discarded by some of us on
the Left.
“Planning for the Rest of Your Life,” educational series will help to
inform and help with life decisions. Several knowledgeable members of
the church will guide us through a complete array of areas for us to
consider "how prepared are we?" Plan to attend the Oct. 2nd class to
receive the guide which will be filled out through six classes over
coming weeks.
THE ANNUAL PEACEMAKING OFFERING is being collected Sunday. It is also
World Communion Sunday where we will dedicate the offering. Many
congregations, like ours, direct a share of the proceeds to respond to
the worldwide HIV/AIDS pandemic. We hope you will join in this
international peacemaking effort.
FALL CONCERT BENEFIT FOR MILLRACE CENTER: The Silver Tones Choir will
present their annual Fall Concert at Millrace Center, Sunday afternoon
at 2:30PM. The director is our own Mary Clark. Other members of FPC
are singing and or playing instruments at the event. The Livin’ by
Faith band will be playing during intermission.
PROPERTY COMMITTEE KEY PROJECT: The re-keying project is finished. If
you are currently a key-holder, please stop in the office and pick up
a new key when you receive the message. The office is open Monday—
Friday 8am to 5pm. Lunch is from 12:30 to 1:30. Feel free to call
before coming to ensure the very best service.
NEXT SUNDAY: Music at FPC opens this season with the renowned
Estonian/Norwegian organist, Ines Maidre at 3:00 p.m., Oct. 9. She
has won many international awards and will play an hour-long program
of varied music. Admission is free and a reception will follow the
program. Child care is available on request. Tel. 372-3783.
PASTOR CRAIG’S HIRING ANNIVERSARY is mid-October. He has vacation
days to use, and one meeting to attend before then. He will return to
the office on October 6. Others on our staff can be helpful and are
able to reach him in case of emergency. Thank you for recognizing the
long hours our pastors give us and for granting them vacation time.
