to First Presbyterian Church
Sunday is the 2nd Sunday of Advent. Reverend Peggy Casteel will
share the Communion Meditation. Two Choirs will sing, FPC’s Adult
Choir and The Gospel Choir led by Keith Karns. We are grateful you are
here to help us wait with Hope, Peace, Joy and Love for the arrival of
the good news of Jesus birth. We invite you to remain after worship
to have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the gym to visit. If
there is anyway we can help you during this holiday season, please let
us know.

Our Adult Nurture Series will continue at 11am. In the Crump
Room the Series “Saving Jesus” will take place. Who is Jesus and what
is his relevance today? Sometimes it seems as if Jesus has been
kidnapped by the Christian Right and discarded by the Secular Left.

Mission is relational and transformative-loving God and neighbor
with heart, soul, and mind. In our missional work at First
Presbyterian Church, we view ourselves as missionaries engaging
surrounding neighborhoods from our doorstep to the ends of the earth.
We recently heard more of the impact of Abby's house and the clinic- a
dedicated program of love in action. Our church holds hands with our
neighbors in Zambia as well through the Power of Love Foundation
(POL). Cindy Chapman, Mary Harmon and Ann Jones traveled to Zambia
in September and will provide an adult nurture program about the work
of POL'S pediatric AIDS program in Matero, a poor compound of Lusaka,
Zambia. Please join us on Dec 4th and hear more about, missional
engagement, public witness, and mutual empowerment. This Adult
Nurture class will take place in the Laws Room.

Market for good is an alternative Christmas market which will
take place Sunday during coffee hour. We’ve all heard about the
concept of “Pay it forward,” and many have read the book by Catherine
Hyde. The Republic recently reported on a second book by Tom Roth
entitled “How Full is Your Bucket?” Both books have adult and kid’s
versions. When we say and do good things for people, we are filling
buckets. This holiday season you’ll both pay it forward and fill a
bucket when you purchase items for family and friends at our Market
For Good. We will have diverse products and your purchases will be
helping Palestine, Africa, and Haiti. Not only will you delight
family and friends, you’ll be filling buckets far away. Let’s all try
to counter the excessive consumerism which tends to overwhelm the
season. Buy a few simple gifts that give twice and enhance the greater
good. Join in the fun at coffee hour for four Sundays beginning
November 27.

For Katie Glackin’s Senior Project, she has organized a mostly
classical concert to benefit Love Chapel. Performers include Katie,
Andrew Hacker, Jill Bosserman, and a few other student musicians. At
the concert she will be collecting canned goods for Love Chapel. The
concert will be held at First Presbyterian Church in the Laws Room at
1:00 p.m. on December 4. Come join us for an hour of entertainment and
help stock the shelves at Love Chapel during the holiday season.

Sunday from about 1:30-3:00pm, landscape care team members and any
other volunteers can meet at church to rake leaves and gumballs.
Please join us if possible.  Please see Sharon Larson with any
questions.  If anyone would like to volunteer at various times through
the week, feel free to do so.

Sunday there will be a Benefit Concert for Love Chapel: For Katie

decorate our sanctuary, Laws Room and the outside fences for
Christmas. All adults and youth are welcome. Please come. We look
forward to seeing you.

Christmas Poinsettias: Again this year, the Worship Committee will
include poinsettias as part of the Christmas decorations in our
sanctuary. Please consider ordering in memory or honor of family
members or friends. A list of donors and the people they are honoring
will appear in the bulletins on December 18 and December 25. Thank you
for helping to make Advent and Christmas special in our worship
services. A coupon is provided in the bulletin.

Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome. First Presbyterian
