This week we're talking Christmas cards and Keeping It Simple, Stupid!

Let's talk about it. Have you been the lucky one that's been asked to
shoot the photo for your department's Xmas card? Maybe you had to
make the whole thing happen!

Share your best KISS story from the fireground or photo shoot, I told
you mine!

KISS. I was only two years into my current position at my fire
department when my Chief asked if I would take the department photo
(apparatus, personnel included). Luckily I was working part-time for a
photographer so I was able to borrow a digital SLR. My Chief had seen
other area departments do this aerial like shot of all the apparatus
and presonnel. I agreed (trying to make good) and got way in over my
head. I ended up having to borrow a tower truck from a neighboring
department (to get me overhead) and had to settle for a shot that I am
not all that happy with. There are no real good areas to take a photo
like this in my district. I was trying to squeeze 7 apparatus and 3
command cars into a space that should have been larger. I lined the
people up and tried to get the tower truck to set up where I needed
them. This was all a large Pain in the you know what. I was not very
experienced in arranging people and vehicles, so I tried to do the
best I could. The photo turned out OK, but far below the standard I
wanted. Just to taunt me there is a poster size photo hanging in each
station of this shoot. I really should have kept the shoot simple.
