Here is thr revolutionary idea the world needs:
Many lasers are powered by spaghetti strand light sources that require as low as 1/1,000,000 of a voly to power them. Both lasers and the photoelectric effect which produces electricity when the right frequency of light hits a metal surface. For each metal or in combination with other metals in an alloy, a specific frequency produces the peak output and smaller amounts to certain limits of frequency outside that ideal. Lasers produce light in a concentrated beam in one specific frequency. By pairing a low power laser with its corresponding metal-- i,e, both operating optimally at the same frequency, you achieve an output of 1-2 volts from an input of 1/1,000,000 volts (Higher depending on which lasers match which metals or alloys). To define this process correctly you would have to call it a power amplifier, or more correctly a light or radiation amplifier. (light is one form of radiation)
As a second defining point, a metal plate the size of a football field or one the size of a pin point have exactly the same output under identical conditions. It can be miniaturized beyond the visible range and still achieve the same output. Realistically, using parts you could easily obtain- say 1/2 inch laser crystals at 100 for $0.01 and circuit boards made from blanks bought through Radio Shack, you could build a 3'x3'x1' box that produced more electricity than a 10,000 sq. ft. home required. It would fit i the trunk of a car and leave space for luggage.
As a third point, you could use the cesium watch dial paint (radioactive glow in the dark stuff) to power it instead of a constant light source to a normal solar cell mounted outside the box. The cesium would give you continuous power for 100 years.
I've had this reviewed by quite a few physics PhDs and it is very doable. I ran into problems when I worked it out originally because Reagan was on his Star Wars quest and all info on lasers in those pre-internet days was frozen. Now I can get prices and place orders and get all the info on low power lasers EXCEPT what fucking frequency they emit. I'm tired and getting too close to my expiration date to work on it any more. I want to write my dam stories and grow my garden in peace. If you know anyone who can do something with it, go for it. Put it on the front page of The New York Times! I have full faith and confidence in it.
