That is the number to simply to tell how many times Firefox has been
downloaded this year. The number is still growing, but the whole FF
community is celebrating. The official time for the 100,000,000th
Firefox download was Wed, 19 Oct 2005 10:13:40 PDT. Take a look for
yourself:http://www.mozilla.org/press/mozilla-2005-10-19.html

This is just too cool. Bad news for Microsoft, though. First Vista
starts to crash and burn, then FireFox gets more market share. Who am I
kidding? No one cares!

I want to know why Microsoft cares whether FF gets a big market share, aside from sheer pride.

Hmmm... Good point. Explorer is free, isn't it? I suppose if someone
starts to use FireFox instead of Explorer, they might start using
OpenOffice or StarOffice instead of MS office...

It's free to Microsoft users, and Microsoft does not make software for Linux or Mac, so FF does not threaten them in those sectors.  I think it's just the threat to their dominance of the software industry that bothers them . . . and I know Dizdaz disagrees with me, but that is why M$ percieves Google as a threat too.  They see people using Google software instead of the M$ equivalent, and they're scared.

Yeah, I was using IE for my grandad's mac, but Gmail didn't work very
well, so I downloaded FF
