Greetings fellow fire freaks:

Just a reminder for those who are interested in performing with Fire Arts Collective for the Fire Conclave performance in 2008 our first meeting is this Thursday at 8pm at 2885 Ettie St.  The gate maybe locked just give a yell or rattle the twisted iron bars.

I know it is really early in the year for some people to start thinking about Burningman but this year we are looking to pull together a really tight performance.  Not to say people cant join later but the later you join the less you perform during the show and you will be in the back for the first 15 minutes.  There will be squads A, B & C.  Squad C is for the late comers.

We will be bring back jumpropes this year, including the 50' rope.  Trying some new fancy staff tossing over others performing.  Not to mention bringing in some new fire props.

This first meeting we will be mostly a meet & greet for everyone. There will be a little spinning for those who feel up for it.  I will neither confirm or deny that there will be beer.  Up until summer there will be a practice on Thursday every month from 7pm to 10pm the Third Thursday of the month.  Starting in June we will increase to 2-3 a month on Thursdays.  Everyone will be expected to meet in smaller groups outside of the Thursday practices.

If you cant make it to the first meeting and/or you are still a maybe please let me know so I can keep you on our radar.  Some of you have already communicated with me and do not need to do so again.  If you have any questions and/or comments please let me know.

Type at you all later.

Below are some pros & cons.

Benefits:
1. You get to perform in front of the man before he burns.
2. You get one of the best seats to watch the burn.
3. You get additional training in fire arts and safety by FAC.
4. You get to practice and perform to live drumming.
5. You get to meet and spin with other dedicated fire performers.
6. You can get a discount ticket.

Disadvantages:
1. You have to do what I say.
2. You have to do what Shimmer says.
3. You have to be resposible on and off the playa to make the performance happen.
4. You will have to be sober during the 25 minute performance at Burningman.
5. You have to make it to a majority of the practices.
6. You will have to do choreographed performance for the first 15 minutes of the performance and then jump or spin fire ropes for 5 minutes
7. There are more but I cant think of them right now.  I hope I didnt scare anyone away.
