Producer Development course
19 Oct 2006
Women of the Sun (WoS) will host a series of six workshops from October
2006 to February 2007, and each workshop will span a period of two
days. The workshops offer women working in the industry an
opportunity to build skills and knowledge, which will enable them to
excel in their current positions and to become producers if they attend
the whole course.
During the six-month course participants will work with their own
scripts (or with those provided to us through a partnership with
SASWA). They will focus on developing, editing, and marketing the
scripts as well as planning of production/post production/marketing.
The first workshop takes place on 21 and 22 October 2006 at SABC Radio
Park, Johannesburg.
The course provides an opportunity for women to build their knowledge
of the art of producing; to access methods and approaches they can use
to effectively implement their skills; to promote discussion around the
media, film and television opportunities; to create a culture of
learning and continuous development as well as an appreciation for
local and African film and television opportunities; to stimulate film
and television production by South African women.
The first workshop From Coordinator to Production Manager will be
presented and facilitated by Amour Elliott-Setter who runs a successful
course through the "The Excellence Factory". Throughout the series
the workshops will be conducted in collaboration with relevant
institutions, organisations and/or individuals such as SASWA, women
filmmakers from well-established production companies, representatives
from Broadcasters, SARS, DTI, Banking institutions etc.
