Welcome to the 24th edition of the International Conference on Electronic Publishing (ElPub) 2020. In the year which precedes the quarter-century anniversary of ElPub bringing together academics, educators, learners and practitioners exploring the various aspects of digital transmission of human knowledge, this edition of the conference will offer a forum for discussing the trends which are currently changing the digital publishing landscape.

The conference will take place between 19 and 21 April 2020 at UCL Qatar in Doha, Qatar. This is the first edition of the conference in the Middle East - a region with a growing commitment to open access and open science

We invite submissions in the form of an extended abstract (templates are available on the submission page). All submissions will undergo a double reference process. Authors whose abstracts have passed the first round of peer-review will be invited to submit full papers.

For each accepted paper, at least one author must register for the conference to present the paper. The same requirement applies for inclusion in the proceedings. Moreover, all those with accepted workshop or demonstration proposals must commit to supporting the event (speakers, lecturers, panel members, etc.) by physically attending and coordinating their activity.

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome (please note that these are the lengths of the final versions of accepted papers; the initial submission is of an extended abstract of up to 1500 words):

This call for papers invites the submission of extended abstracts which must be between 1,000 – 1,500 words and contain:

1.  Title of the paper

4.  Type of paper you plan to submit (e.g. Full paper, short paper, practitioner’s paper, poster, workshop)

5.  Key objectives of the study and significance

6.  Design and Methodology

7.  An overview of the state of the art in the field

8.  Outcomes 

9.  A bibliography

10. Keywords (maximum five)

We are negotiating to publish the accepted papers in indexed full open access (OA) proceedings by OpenEdition Press on the Episciences platform with an option for immediate publication of the preprint on the HAL platform. The intention is for the best papers to be published in a freemium open access edited volume on the OpenEdition Books platform, and made available in print format through print on demand. All accepted papers and posters will be archived at the ELPUB Digital Library. All contents published in the ELPUB proceedings are open access via the conference archive under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited.

Papers submitted to this conference must not have been accepted or be under review by another conference. All full papers, short papers and posters should be written in English as a lingua franca (ELF), though other languages would also be considered, provided that an ELF translation of the abstract is also made available.
