This news summary is brought to you by International Media (IM), a UMMOA–GEO news agency.

Nota Bene: International Media (IM) also reports on scientific matters, but will try its best to report only on science which is environmentally-sustainable, and/or societally-friendly. Some science may have a less obvious immediately practical value, but may still be mentioned for purely philosophical reasons. Most science research done today actually favours the interests of big government and big business. People, families, societies, even nations outside of traditional academia usually end up funding all this research with little or no societal benefit through taxes, gifts, and/or higher education tuition fees, or fund it indirectly through the savings they allow by acting as data collectors (aka citizen scientists). So most scientific research does not necessarily benefit natural societies either through the wisdom that is discovered, or through the creation of new employment opportunities.

Zealandia — pieces finally falling together for continent we didn't know we had
At a time when a new landmass, Global Earth Oceans (GEO), is beginning to come out of the water of the world's oceans, little by little, scientists have discovered a landmass, Zealandia, which was about two-thirds the size of Australia, and which is now 94% under water. Zealandia is now a step closer to being recognised as a separate continent. One more reason for recognising GEO, which is not submerging, but surfacing from the ocean floor at this very moment. GEO is not submerging by geophysical (entropic-destructive) forces, but surfacing by societal-political (syntropic-constructive) forces, although one recognised GEO island claim, Aphrodite Island, is actually a new Red Sea island. Scientists unveil new form of matter: time crystals
If crystals have an atomic structure that repeats in space, like the carbon lattice of a diamond, why can't crystals also have a structure that repeats in time, that is, a time crystal? This is no longer mere speculation. Two groups followed UC Berkeley assistant professor of physics Norman Yao's blueprint, and have already created the first-ever time crystals. [News.Berkeley.edu]

Sea ice around Antarctica shrinks to record low
Just two years ago, there was a record high level of sea ice in the Southern Hemisphere. In January 2017, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that Antarctic sea ice shrunk to the lowest monthly extent ever recorded. [ScienceNewsForStudents.org]
