Just got back from the Sheepfold and wow, was that unpleasant. It was admittedly a bad time of day for insects (dusk), but there is some kind of insect (biting midges?) that seems to have completely taken over. I wasn't there long but came home with bites on my face, arms, necks, and legs as well as bugs on my clothes, in my clothes, and of course on the dog. I won't be going back for a while, at least not at this time of day. And if I go at all, I'll be covered in bug spray.
By the way, have they completely stopped mowing over there? The field looks very different than it used to. Is that in an attempt to keep the dogs in the off-leash area? I wonder whether all the tall grass is contributing to the infestation?
