Dear Fells Dog Owners,

Thanks to Rich McBride and Jeff Bekkenhuis, who posted in our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/fellsdog), for sharing the happy news from the Town of Winchester:  the Board of Selectmen voted on June 17 to allow access to the public for walking and hiking activities as well as for dogs on leashes on certain roads and trails around the North Reservoir at the Middlesex Fells Reservation for a trial period, continuing through November 2013.

A press release from the Town of Winchester provided complete details:  http://www.winchester.us/index.php/news/518-proposed-north-reservoir-access.html

Special thanks to Ron Weisinger, who, a couple of years ago, arranged a meeting and joined me to speak with the then acting Town Manager about opportunities for public access to the lands around the Winchester Reservoirs. At the time Representative Jason Lewis was advocating strongly for public access to the Winchester Reservoir Lands.

I have sent a quick thank you note to Representative Jason Lewis (rep.jas...@hou.state.ma.us) thanking him for and congratulating him on his advocacy.  I have also sent a note to the Winchester Town Manager, Richard C. Howard (townm...@winchester.us), thanking him for the proposed North Reservoir access.

Please take a moment to thank Rep. Lewis and Richard Howard, too. Let's help make the trial public-access period a success!

Best,
Michele
