Hello everyone,

I hope that you are all enjoying summer.

I have several business meetings in Memphis cropping up for Wednesday, July 7.  As a result, there is a slim likelihood now that I will be in attendance at our July meeting.  Is there anyone who is able to step forward to facilitate our July meeting?  I would greatly appreciate it, as I am unable to change my schedule at this point.

I will be posting the agenda and all the documents I received on the countywide volunteer matching initiative to our Google groups site.  I had a meeting with the Knoxville Chamber this week on this subject as well and will post notes from that discussion too.

Gary – if you see this email and have a chance – would you please confirm if we will have any new committee members at the July meeting?  We do have at least one position to fill with Heather’s resignation.  Did everyone reapply who intended to?

Also, a note for everyone on our committee - we should consider holding officer elections in August.  Planning ahead – I believe we are considering having our August meeting at Farragut High School – that would be on August 4 at 2pm.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Margaret

As a reminder, I will also not be at the July meeting. I will look forward to seeing you all in August and also at the Red, White, and Blues Festival on Friday night!

Since we did not have a quorum at the July meeting and my availability is limited by my caregiver role with an AD husband, I did some e-mails on behalf of the upcoming fund raiser. I used the Farragut organizational websites to send the following:

Just a reminder that school supplies will be collected August 2nd through 13th with drop-offs at any of the five schools from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. OR at designated donation barrels near the Information center in the Farragut Town Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (All locations are Monday through Friday only.) Appreciate your reminding members of our activity sponsored jointly with the Town of Farragut.

This, our first year of operation, has  emphasized school fund raising. We can provide speakers for your group on any aspect of public education relations. Please keep us in mind for future meetings. And thanks for your promotion of our SOS campaign.

Elizabeth "Betty" Clemens,  Knox / Farragut School Relations Committee

Just a reminder that I cannot make the August meeting, as I will be in Seattle for an important family meeting, but have scheduled the July training session on the 26th. Anticipate seeing everyone there.

Betty,

Thanks for helping to promote our school supplies drive and for the update as well.  We will miss you at the August meeting but look forward to seeing you in September.  Pls see my note below as well regarding elections.  You may wish to make your wishes and proxy vote known to Valerie Millsapps, Gary Palmer or David Smoak in the event that we are able to hold elections in August.

Hello all,

As I was unable to attend our July meeting, would anyone mind giving me an update of the items covered/not covered on the agenda and any issues that may have arised that would have required a vote?  Did the meeting take place or was it adjourned early due to low attendance?

This will help me plan for the August meeting and for the updates I would like to share.  Also, our committee should be considering officers for this next term, as terms of office have expired and we should plan to hold elections in August.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Margaret

No voting was done, due to lack of a quorum. I suggested that the officers remain for next year. Our first year went well and we were all pleased with the work accomplished, so please consider retaining those interested in serving. The discussions were all "off record" so nothing official was accomplished. A fund-raising pitch was presented by a parent whose address was suggested to be more appropriate for her local PTA. The feeling was that we don't want to encourage a lot of fund-raisers taking up time during meetings that would better be served by speakers enlightening us on school matters of concern to the committee. You were missed. Will I see you at the training session?
