Dear Bill Johns -

   At our last EDC meeting, we were asked to compile what we felt our "Opportunities" and "Threats" were, and forward them to you, in hopes that you would lead us through the rest of the SWOT exercise at our next meeting!  (September 1)  I thought I would copy everyone, in case they have not sent their list to you, and it makes it easier for you to not receive any duplications, but only additions or requested deletions.   Some might argue whether something is an opportunity or a threat - but some of these are both.  Most all of these have been discussed at our EDC meetings.

 

Opportunities

Make Farragut a destination

     Boundary markers

     Local Tourism directory

     State Tourism directory

     Farragut/West Knoxville Chamber directory

     Knoxville Chamber

     Interstate signage

     Advertising

Distinguish Farragut as an area

     Boundary markers

     Improve visual appearance of Kingston Pike corridor

Increase Sales Tax revenue

     Advertise in Tellico Village Directories

     Support "Shop Farragut" campaign

     Promote Farragut in local and state tourism guides

Identify "Farragut Community" - which includes residents outside of boundaries, who fully support TOF

Conference Center

Community Center

Knoxville Open

Commercial real estate vacancies

Long range plan/vision/goals for historic preservation

     Historic zoning

     Identifying and designating sites as "historic" and relevant to Farragut

     Establish something like a Farragut Historical Preservation Society

     Russell-Avery House

Hotel-Motel Tax

Long range vision for pedestrian friendly walkways along Kingston Pike

 

 

Threats

TOF's relationship with businesses and developers

No historical zoning

No Hotel-Motel tax

Vacancies

Growth boundaries

Sales tax revenue decline in recession

Lack of partnering with Govt alliances to promote Farragut
