RIVER PEOPLE:
Migratory.
Only used the island for a Fish camp, during the salmon or
like season?
Based them in part to how I heard of the old days in many
Eskimo (Inupiaq) villages.. So take them whole cloth or in part? Kayak/Umiak,
dog sleds in winter or just stay a foot, with modifications cause of contact
with Dinas?
Trade came up after contact, though the network was already
there, just volume went up, and more to trade.
They now for the most part control the barge traffic. River is
wide but shallow, not sure why so shallow (grin). But not that shallow
(impassible to horses). Debating the barges become more flat bottom wood,
sailed or pulled up river by horse or what else? Trolls or ..
Barges and Umiak (large skin boats) for river travel. Orgin of
the skin for the Umiak, not sure, Eskimo ones are Walrus/seal, so .. Not sure if
Island (Dinas) has any walruses?
Stayed on the west bank of the river for the most part, so as
to not run into the horse people?
Still deciding if RP are to be like
Havlin/Hobbit like?
TRADE:
To/From Dinas - Shore hugging for now..
Upriver, river does not freeze, so no need for to much sleds,
but never know, old days they had sleds that could handle a ton of
gear.
HORSE PEOPLE
Horse people, likely a late introduction or .. They terrorise
all but keep quiet for the trade. Not sure how far they trade, so they may have
contact on the other side of the mountains.
Horse Tribes, good ideas, but do the have to be noble savages?
True, a fan of Robert Adams and the Mongols, so will
see..
MOUNTAINS
Mountains to the west, are very high, like the Himalyas and
higher.
RACES:
Hyumins: Not sure of all are white, black, asian, or what?
Leaning towards white or amerindian or like? Or leave it open for local
interpretation?
Yes, trade kept things nice and quiet. Since the river people
was not destroyed outright by the traders, but started to trade for things with
them..
Fish for one.
Ship or boat? Good point, with a boat the traders could go up
river on their own? Or they have but only with barges, pulled or
sailed?
TO THE PLAINS:
There is a pontoon bridge across the river to the
Horse/Plain side, that can be moved if need be? The lone tower is left alone,
still not sure why, its an old Light House, so maybe haunted? Lights come on in
bad weather, but no one seems to be doing it? Or are they, just not anyone from
town? Lone tower is like a 1/2 mile from the pontoon bridges moorage site, but
no road goes to it. There is a track that goes for a short distance up the river
bed until it disapears into the plains.
Possible lone tower on the top of the cliffes SW of Dinas, but
not seen? Or ideas?
The land SW of Dinas is high cliffs along the water/ocean,
much like the "White Cliffs of Dover". So its hard to land a boat/ship along it
for some 200 miles.. On top of the clifts, is where many of the RP seem to have
come from? There is a Horse shapped drawing on the side or so it seems to be,
since it is not alway seen at times.. Mystery?
The river on that side is fast moving. On the island is a
place left natural, so when the RP come to trade, all can trade in a grove of
trees.
Dinas Aetor's dock, landward or water/ocead ward side? Leaning
to river side, withyou sailing up the river for a short distance and then come
back to dock, or one on the ocean side? Both?
Island is like 3 miles wide, and 4 long?
Races so far: (-in is plural, Hyuma - singular?)
Hyumin
Shindin - Elf like, there is more than one kind. Most that
living on the Lithe are different than those who live on the
surface..
Havlin - Hobbit like.
Gluvin - Dwarf like.
Yrkin - Orcs
Satrin - vaguely green men of mars in look, but .. more
laters.
Trolkin - Trolls and like.
There is the chance of Droids and like, but more
laters.
Mike
I need to do a templete or find what I got and post it?

Subject: [Abrigon-World] Re: Group
World
I'm up for sharing ideas/group world.
I mostly use d20 because the
OGL made it near-Gurps re:borrowable source material, but can reference most
systems. Personally biased towards high/common-place magic/tech with few
limits on PC innovation/characterization. It's a wide, wide multiverse after
all.
Sounds like Deanos Aetor lies partway between the two distant
seaports, so while it likely has no immediate strategic/shipping value,
provides a sheltered cove from oceanic storms as well as emergency
supplies/repairs. Do they use shore-hugging craft or larger oceanic ships?
Although the local horseclan(s) are likely self-sufficient, with honor
integral to their lifestyle, perchance they can be convinced to trade bison
meat/craft goods for horse shoes/etc they CAN produce themselves with
effort/time?
Why havent the River People (RP) already settled the delta
island? The reason would imply how they react to the fort's construction and
resulting disruption to THEIR river/lifestyle? Imagine early period sees many
covert sabotage/disruptions to drive the invading Thessans away from the
island.
Since RP dont live there, must be:
* religious site?
*
taboo(reason?)
* home/lair to ???; perhaps sentient plant
life?
