Introduction to Burlesque: New York
Friday, November 11th 6 to 7:30 pm
New Dance Group Arts Center

Instructor: Marina Wolf Ahmad
Learn the moves and attitude that make burlesque a powerful and
empowering art form, both in and out of the bedroom. We'll explore
poses, shakes, and shimmies, plus ways to move across the floor that
guarantee all eyes on you. Eye contact, furniture tricks, costuming
ideas, and choreography are also part of burlesque, which is part
dance, part stripping, and all stunning, sexy, and YOU. Wear
comfortable, close-fitting attire--including one top layer that you can
either unbutton, unsnap, or unzip--and bring shoes that you think are
sexy (and that you can walk in). Please NOTE: This class must have 10
people preregistered by November 1, or it will be postponed.

Best for true beginners and shy dancers, this workshop is designed to
get you out on the floor and moving confidently to some of today's
hottest, fiercest hip hop music. Learn to walk with attitude, shrug
with style, and bounce your booty until they're beggin' for mercy.
We WILL complete a short routine by the end of class, so come prepared
to think and move! Bring comfortable sneakers and LOTS of water.
