Hello TEAM,
as you know I had a meeting with Yurie and Pastor John a few Sunday's ago regarding the merger.
Yurie has decided that now is that not the time to merge. There are many factors to her answer. I tried presenting all the benefits of merging several times (probably too many for Yurie's liking). 2 Ministries merging is new to JOY, the church (ie P John and leadership) feel that the leaders involved should want to merge, so they have been supportive and respect Yurie's decision.
I am very disappointed, not at any one person, but at the result. I know that our ministry has been struggling with lack of new members, for that I really feel terrible.
In total, I had 5 meetings with Connections, I thought that we made progress each meeting, but at some point decisions have to be made. I don't want to place any blame or point any fingers. I would like all of us to respect the decisions that has been made. I would be happy to discuss decision with any and everyone if you like further clarification.
I think we need to regroup and refocus. For those of you that really want to connect with Newcomers, I would bless you to move to Connections. I'm a firm believer of putting people in the areas that they enjoy the most so that they can succeed!!
Obviously, we need help...we need more people. I will come back to you soon with some possible solutions. I ask that you be patient and I'm so appreciate of all that you do with limited resources!
We have some good wins though of late:
Jessica Hong passed her driving test, she has been working very hard for it, so I'm really excited for Jessica!
Alice is starting her new job today! yay!!
let's all congratulate them!
I will send out a follow up email shortly with some ideas of next steps.
Bless you!
Paul Kim
