We will have an joint team meeting with Connections on 9/26 (Monday), please mark your calendars. It will be a meet/greet, a time for us to share feedback and also get some training.

PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT
I want to repent for being a bit short and frustrated yesterday (sorry Jenny and Michael if my greeting was a bit cold, my apologies). I arrived shortly after 10am yesterday, I helped Shirley put the new signs into our sign holder, clean them and started set up, 1025am and still no Welcome Team members.
The time to arrive at church is 10am, which is only an hour before service. I have been pretty relaxed about this because I didn't want to be a hard ass new Leader. It seems like people are coming later and later which makes set up for the people who are there more difficult. I heard last week people were so late that some people at church were wondering if there was going to be no Welcoming.
Also, it got back to me that some of you were complaining that there were no weekly emails and assignment of positions. I must admit that it was frustrating to hear that from someone else. Please come to me directly with feedback and complaints. The reason that I don't really send out weekly emails is that in our meetings we established that it would be all hands on deck every weekend, which in my mind means No need for weekly email invites and RSVP. We just show up!
Also, I don't send out role assignment emails because people tend to be late and/or not show up. so then we would be forced to scramble and change positions. So starting this week, I will make up a sign up sheet so when people arrive they can place their names to what they want to do, it will be a way to reward people for arriving on time. Last 2 people to arrive will do bulk of cleanup.
During clean up, I would like to suggest that we clean up, I see people holding babies and talking to people, which is awesome, I love doing that also. However, it takes us longer to clean up, if all of us pitch in, clean up should be no more than 15 mins, which gives us plenty of time left to mingle.
Finally, the reason why I love to do Welcoming is because in the book Fusion (book about welcoming people at church) says that we should treat new visitors like a gift from God. People come to church because they are seeking community, God and some connection. Many are also wounded, so to me, the Welcome Team is like the Emergency Room Staff, we are the first point of contact.
Finally, our discussion with Connections is taking a little longer because I was out of church for the month of July and Beckie gave birth. Yurie and I are trying to get back on track and the scheduling of the meeting is the first step. Thank you for your patience.
Please think about this email and let me know how you feel, you can reply all if you want.
Many blessings.
Paul Kim
