Today I heard on the news that there was a veteran whose wife was killed and his dog was hurt badly from a terrible mud slide. This disaster also destroyed the man's house and he was left with a $350,000 mortgage to pay and without a home. A person, who choose to be unidentified, heard about the situation and paid off the man's complete debt. I think this is a wonderful story and I wonder how many times this happens and we don't hear about it. I wish there was a forum for good news only; wouldn't that be uplifting? We get plenty of bad news and hear about awful things but we don't hear very much about the good things. I vote to change that.

I'd vote for a positive news story forum too. I don't watch much TV because it's all negative.

I agree Vivian. As a veteran myself I don't think most people think about what we do/did. Thank God I don't have one of these horror stories of my own, but I am cognizant of the fact that I spent 4 post-high school years serving while my contemporaries were busy advancing their careers. And when I entered the civilian workplace, nobody cared that I had served for THEM. Thank you to the person that paid off this vet's debt. It is ironic that the mortgage company did not do it. Wouldn't that have been gold in publicity?
