My name is Jenn Bagley and I am the 2nd Vice President of FNSA. My
main responsibility is to coordinate this year's annual state
convention. I would like to hear from those of you in Region 7 about
what topics you would like to see at focus sessions and what ideas or
suggestions you can provide to help make this year's convention a
success.
Also, the FNSA board is interested in finding out the following
information regarding convention attendance:
1. Does you school encourage attendance?
2. How is your attendance funded?
3. Do you have to write a paper regarding your activities while at
convention and if so what does the paperwork entail?
4. What happens if you have to miss a clinical or class day because of
attending convention?
Thanks for your assistance,
Jenn Bagley

nice to hear from you - I am the other faculty advisor from MCC
I teach level IV -
#1. as a faculty member & advisor I definitely encourage attendance - and also try to facillitate other faculty understanding the value of students attending the convention
#2. funding - we are fortunate as Mrs. Delesie states to have student government funding - I would add that I don't think we would allow a student not to be able to attend because of lack of funding (at least at the state level) we were able to sponsor a bus to convention in 05 and hope to continue that availability
#3. as Mrs. Delesie shared - there are assignments that are due one week after convention attendance. faculty are willing to give exams early or adjust schedules if necessary - we do not want attendance to be punitive in any way....
students do not seem to "struggle" with the assignments - they are always interesting to read and we try to share them at faculty meetings
look forward to seeing at the next convention
topics: tips for surviving/thriving during orientation; keeping yourself healthy while caring for everyone around you; prioritizing;
don't hesitate to contact me - if there is anything I can help you with...

Thank you for your post. It definitely will help myself and the FNSA
board gain a better insight to the way faculty encourage and assist
students in attending convention.

Thank you for your post. I especially like the topic idea of keeping
yourself healthy while caring for everyone around you. Nurses so often
forget about that.
I hope that you and Ms. Delesie will help us with the game again this
year. The Sara's are becoming a tradition!
