My name is Sarah Devilbiss, and I chair the Community Health Committee
for the FNSA.
We currently have two WONDERFUL community health initiatives in place,
the CAPS screening program through Prevent Blindness Florida, and the
March of Dimes program. Information on both of these programs can be
found on the FNSA website, at www.fnsa.net. Information includes
overviews of the program, pertinent materials such as screening forms,
letters, and educational materials, as well as contact information.
I really encourage everyone to be as involved as they can in these
programs. Not only do they present a wonderful opportunity to
implement your nursing skills and knowledge, but they are also a
fantastic opportunity to give back to the community.
Consider making them a chapter involved event, or talk to your faculty
about incorporating the education and screening into your school
curriculum.
If you are interested in pursuing one or both of these programs, please
look at the information posted on the website. And also, if you have
any questions, feel free to contact me as often as you need and I will
be more than glad to assist!
Remember, participation in these programs is counted towards end of the
year awards at State Convention!!!
Sincerely,
Sarah Devilbiss, UNF
