There are 3 important events coming up in September:
1) MC Outdoor Billboards: A public meeting will be held on Thursday,
September 8, 2011 beginning at 7:30 PM at the Springfield Township High
School Auditorium. The purpose of the meeting is to allow the MC Outdoor to
present information to the community on a zoning validity challenge related
to the installation of up to two electronic billboards in Springfield
Township. The original proposal was to install these on Bethlehem Pike at
Haws Lane and at Gordon Rd. It is my understanding that this meeting will
be run by MC Outdoor and no action will be taken by the Board of
Commissioners at the meeting.
2) MC Outdoor Billboards: A Public Hearing before the Zoning Hearing Board
is scheduled for Monday Sept 19 at 7pm at the Springfield Township Building.
MC Outdoor, LLC, P.O. Box 1421, Malvern, PA 19355 is challenging the
substantive validity of the Township Zoning Ordinance. The applicant claims
that sections 114-140 through 114-149 of Township code (Township sign
ordinance) do not allow off-premises signs (billboards). If the validity
challenge is upheld the challenger claims the right to erect billboards at
the following locations:
*601 Bethlehem Pike, Erdenheim, PA 19038 (B-1 Business Zoning District)
*1020 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031 (B-2 Business Zoning District
3) Black Horse Inn: A Fall Feast and Silent Auction will be held Friday
Sept 30 at the Flourtown Country Club. All funds raised will go toward the
restoration of the Inn. Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased online
