Subject: FDRD FOREST STEWARDS REPORT STATISTICS FOR PERIOD 5/2007 THRU 9/26/2007
FDRD FOREST STEWARDS RANGER REPORT STATISTICS FOR PERIOD 5/2007 THRU 9/26/2007
EXCLUDED ARE ANY TRAIL REPORT STATISTICS NOT IN THE PROGRAM
(e.g. bemrose trail [ski circus] was not in the 2007 program, but was reported by someone with an interest in that area)
INCLUDED ARE ANY TRAIL REPORT STATISTICS NOT IN PROGRAM BUT REPORTED AS A PROGRAM TRAIL
(e.g. oro grande reported as tenderfoot by karen early in the year . . . karen was notified.
ken wanted to add trail to 2007 program but once 2007 training (implementation) starts
I don't like to change the plan.)
Should the DRD want to add trails for 2008 program it should be done over the winter 2007/2008 before training.
"FDRD" TOTALS EXCLUDE REPORTS SUBMITED BY FENW WILDERNESS STEWARDS.
THAT DOESN'T MEAN WILDERNESS TRAILS ARE EXCLUDED, AND THEREFORE
NOT ALL NON-WILDERNESS TRAIL REPORTS ARE INCLUDED BECAUSE SOME OF
FENW WILDERNESS STEWARDS REPORTED ON NON-WILDERNESS TRAILS.

Total # of patrols (multiple segments on one trail need to be counted as 1 patrol)
FOR PURPOSES OF THIS REPORT, A PATROL IS DEFINED AS WHAT SOMEONE CHOOSES TO DO IN A
SINGLE DAY. THEY CAN CHOOSE TO DO MULTIPLE NEIGHBORING TRAILS AS DEFINED BY CURRENT
TRAVEL MGNT
DOC OR THEY CAN CHOOSE TO DO A SINGLE TRAIL, OR CAN CHOOSE TO DO TWO
TRAILS ON OPPOSITE
ENDS OF THE DISTRICT. A TRAIL IS WHAT IS DEFINED BY THE CURRENT PUBLICLY
RELEASED TRAVEL
MANAGEMENT DOCUMENT -- DRAFT OR NOT.
73 FOR PERIOD 5/2007 THRU 9/26/2007 FOR FDRD ONLY
Should the DRD want to break "longer trails" into "trail segments for patrol/reporting purposes" (
e.g. split
gore, colo, wheeler trails into segments) as suggested over 2007 summer, the time to do that is 2007/2008 winter
for a 2008 implementation as that is when
i have the time to make adjustments to the reporting tool. Again . . . I
believe FDRD is not here to tell the DRD how
they are going to patrol, rather FDRD is providing volunteer labor and
should learn from DRD how to patrol. The
people that need to be in that discussion would be myself and the trainers.

Total # of different trails patrols (ie – how many different trails were patrolled
TOTAL # OF DIFFERENT TRAILS REPORTED BY FDRD FOREST STEWARDS IS
33

Total # of hours logged – if not possible to computer, I will use the conservative amount of 5 hours (4 for patrol and 1 for transport and entering data)
FOR PERIOD 5/2007 THRU 9/26/2007 FOR FDRD ONLY
TOTAL # OF FDRD VOLUNTEER HOURS REPORTED
ON THE TRAILS IS
331.33 trail hours (fixing obvious errors in AM/PM which is a 12 hour adjustment)
400.67 man hours (because some trails had 2 people which means hours times 2; however same service-level to trails)
training issue . . . What you describe in parenthesis is what timecard is for.
Get people to fill out electronic timecard and then
don't have to guess on overhead time and get rid of am/pm errors.

Total miles patrolled
FOR PERIOD 5/2007 THRU 9/26/2007 FOR FDRD ONLY
TOTAL MILES REPORTED BY FDRD VOLUNTEERS IS
404.5 Since people don't use a gps or pedometer . . . the miles reported is inaccurate.
training issue . . . they should use the gps devices.

GPS REPORTED USED - 2 (both foss)
GPS DATA TRANSMITTED - 0 unless troy has it. if so it has not been transmitted to
fdrd.org
NOTE . . . FDRD SHOULD ACCOUNT FOR GPS UNITS (in terms of where are they).
VOLUNTEER CELEBRATION IS THE BEST PLACE TO DO IT.
GPS UNITS SHOULD BE TURNED IN IF VOLUNTEER IS NOT VOLUNTEERING NEXT YEAR.
VOLUNTEER OK TO RETAIN AND USE PERSONALLY OVER THE WINTER
IF THEY WILL BE PART OF THE PROGRAM NEXT YEAR.

Hey Joe,
Two questions regarding Volunteer Celebration Day, Saturday, September 29:
- Are you able to either help set up the pavilion in the morning or crew lead that day – trail maintenance and buck-n-rail fence?
- Could you help me compile impacts – data through, say, Sept. 26 - (I might need to take you up on your offer to help me with this – I will try to do this early the week of – but I'm not able to keep up with my TO DO List – could you help me with the following (these are FDRD folks only – so I can report out and offer awards for individuals):
- Total # of patrols (multiple segments on one trail need to be counted as 1 patrol) – FDRD only
- Total # of different trails patrols (ie – how many different trails were patrolled
- Total # of hours logged – if not possible to computer, I will use the conservative amount of 5 hours (4 for patrol and 1 for transport and entering data)
- Total miles patrolled
- Total people encountered
- Total people contacted
- Total # of stewards patrolling (see FDRD list below my name for all FDRD Stewards)
- Reports that include weed info – was GPS unit used?
- Info for each steward patrolling
i. # of patrols
ii. # of miles hiked
iii. # of people encountered
iv. # of people contacted
Let me know if you're able to help me with either of the above.
Also, not sure if Troy has checked in with you regarding MDDAY – are you able to help us out on Saturday, Oct 13 –barbed wire (same location).
Thanks, Joe.
Peace.
