Dear FCFM friends,
Well, boy has everyone been quiet in this
group lately. I hope that you all have not gotten kidnapped by little
green aliens, and are now flying over some distant galaxy inside of a shiny new
space ship! LOLL Seriously, I hope that everyone is doing well, and
that God has been drawing you close to himself!
I am working on a new project that I wanted
to tell you all about, and hopefully it will be something that some of you will
be interested in participating in. As some of you know, the FCFM web site
has a link called the FCFM Sanctuary. This area of the web site utilizes
state-of-the-art software, that enables conferencing. It is similar to the
software that many large companies use. If you have a computer microphone
and either headphones or speakers, you can interact with several people in real
time. It is sort of like a telephone conference call, inwhich a number of
people can speak with each other at the same time. Well, I am putting some
thoughts together concerning using this technology on the web site to establish
a regular Bible study. This study would be scheduled once a week for about
an hour each session. There would of course be no charge for participating
in this Bible study, and although it would be completely accessible for a blind
person, it would not be restricted to only the blind. Anyone could
participate! In fact I sincerely hope that each of you will help spread
the news of this new project, and to tell those who might be interested about
it!
For those of you who are not familiar with
my pastoral style or who have not previously participated in a Bible study with
me, I will give you a general thumb male of my approach. I would also be
very happy to respond to any questions that you may have! Generally, I am
not oriented toward any particular denominational interpretation, or other such
approaches to the Bible. My emphasis is on the scriptures them selves, and
determining what the Bible says by actually reading the Bible itself. I am
also a rather practical minded person, and tend to have a focus on discovering
the lessons that are offered within scripture, and then exploring ways that
those lessons can be directly applied within our individual lives. I try
to avoid explorations into the Bible that are overly philosophical, or esoteric
in nature. I think that the Bible is God's love letter to us, and He
intends us to understand what He has written.
My Adult Bible study is good for those who
are new to exploring scripture, as well as those who have been reading their
Bible for a period of time. What I intend to do is to take each of the
books of the Bible, and explore the dominant issues addressed such as creation,
Moses, Noah, the gospels, etc. It will not necessary be a verse by verse
study, but an examination of the dominant themes found in the Bible, how they
work together to point to Jesus Christ, and what God's dominant messages are for
all of us. I will also explore where the Bible came from, why it was
established, etc.
I have received some interest in this type
of Bible study, and I would like to have a few additional interested
people. If you would be interested in participating, or would like
additional information, please E-mail me privately at jame...@earthlink.net. I am
thinking about putting this together in the next few weeks or so, so please let
me know if you are interested!
Take care, and you guys should start
talking with each other, or fighting, or something! LOLL This group
should wake up. *smile*
