Hello. I'm having problems with getting Eclipse to run. The error I
keep getting is about not being able to find a JRE or more
specifically, not being able to find javaw.exe. In the configuration
file I put "-vm c:\Sun\AppServer\jdk\jre\bin\javaw.exe -vmargs
-Xmx256M", but nothing happens.

Today,10/8, I called Calvin at 8:00am because, I was in my job and I couldn't answer to you. I asked him to do that because yesterday we got the installations of Eclipse and MyEclipse. Maybe he also didn't reach to send you a message.

Hello everyone,

I am not sure how far along everyone is in configuring their eclipse,
but this past weekend, and also with much of Renato's assistance, I
have been trying to configure eclipse to interface with tomcat, but to
no avail.

It keeps putting up the error message that, "A configuration error
occured during startup: Please verify the preference field with the
prompt: Tomcat JDK name

I was wondering if any of you have ventured to connect tomcat to
Eclipse, and if so, were you successful?

Hello people!

 

I just saw the Calvin's message about the configuration. I didn't try again because my time is pretty short right now.

 

There you go how you configure you Tomcat, after install MyEclipse:

0. Copy the C:\Tomcat4118\conf for c:\Tomcat4118\bin\. After that the address should be C:\Tomcat4118\bin\conf. normally, we don't need do that, but right now I'm trying realize why is show me error when I don't do that. It's the solution for now.

 

1. Open Eclipse. Go to the Menu option Window/Preferences/Java/Installed JREs. Click in add and put you Java SDK path. The mine is C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01. Put a name like jre_tomcat or something like that; Press OK

 

2. In the same window (Window/Preferences/) goes to MyEclipse/ Application Server/ Tomcat 4 (I suppose you already  have installed your Tomcat in your machine). In the right box, above has two radio buttons "Tomcat Server". Select Enable. In the text box Tomcat... put your path for Tomcat in all of them. Mine is C:\Tomcat4118

 

3. Goes to Tomcat4/JDK and in the right box above "Tomcat JDJ name", put the jre name you choose. My case jre-tomcat. Press OK

 

4. In myEclipse Perspective in can see a draw of a man running beside a face above he. Click in the down arrow. Click Tomcat and Start.

 

This process should Start Tomcat. If you can start Tomcat outside of Eclipse you can test in the browse with this address:

http://localhost:8080/index.jsp

 

If you start by Eclipse and use this address, it doesn't work. I still don't know why, even if I get start Tomcat. You can try by yourselves, meanwhile.
