Speculative Meta-Etymology of the Word Mayan

Mayan - from the words "May" and "End" because the last day on the
Mayan calendar in dec. 20th 2012, the world "may end" or "mayan" on
that day...

The Mayans predict there will be great floods then. It is also when
the earth passes exactly through the plane of the Center of the Milky
Way Galaxy. Somehow the Mayans knew this. Even their ball game is a
reenactment of this coming event as the ball going through the hoop is
when earth hits the plane dead on. The Mayans believe the evil
spirits in the center of the galaxy in a dark place (the black hole
there?) will be released then to cause havoc on earth.
