Maybe REM Occurs Because There is a Movie Showing on the Back of the Eyelids

I wonder if anybody has ever looked to see if the back of the eyelids
are like an LED screen which is capable of displaying a picture.
Dreams would then be depicted on this eyelid and REM movements would
occur to view the dreams.

Of course this would mean one could record ones own dreams if you
could intercept the signals going to the back of the eyelid :-).
