There's an article on NLP on wikipedia which looks worth checking out.

It's a controversial area, so its hard to get an objective point of view.
The wikipedia at least makes it clear that there are several areas of
controversy.

I'd be interested to hear whether you know of any examples on NLP or NLP
principles being used in experiential work. I only know a few basic ideas,
but I have used, for example, the idea of reinforcing particular behaviours
in students by (for example) positively, consistent linguistic feedback and
a touch on the shoulder, which is used subtlety but consistently as a unique
reinforcer for the particular desired behaviour.

Already, you might sense of the potential for controversy/debate! :)
