A message on behalf of Kelly Rodrigue.
Greetings!
As it currently stands, our council’s National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course is in jeopardy of not having enough Scouts registered for the course to make. Officially, we are supposed to have 30 paid in full by 30 days out from the start of the course with a maximum enrollment of 48. With the course starting on July 1st, that means we need at least 30 Scouts registered and paid in full bynext Friday, June 1st. We are researching what is the absolute minimum number of Scouts needed by national standards to make the course a go, and we will be waiving all late fees for those paid in full by June 1st.
I need some information from you if possible. Namely, are you planning to attend? If so, you can’t wait any longer as if the number registered/paid doesn’t reach the number required by national, we may have to put the course off yet another year.
All NYLT information and forms can be found athttp://secure.bsa-selacouncil.org/nylt
Currently, I am showing the following 12 Scouts confirmed/registered as of this time:
Phillip Foret – Troop 820 – Bayou
Allen Lepine – Troop 820 – Bayou
Louis Morrell, IV – Troop 453 – Bayou
Evan Gaudet – Troop 453 – Bayou
Dyllan Adams – Troop 453 – Bayou
Stephen Burkholder – Troop 227 – Pelican
David Dixon – Troop 98 – Cypress
Kevin Geraci – Troop 490
Daniel Ford – Troop 2 – Out of Council
Joshua Hathcox – Troop 94 – Out of Council
2 Scouts (unchosen as of yet) – Troop 2000
Also, expect 6-8 East Jefferson JROTC members (names unknown as of yet) with Colonel Harold Ray
Staff apps are in hand from:
William Moreaux – Troop 453 – Bayou
James Rodrigue – Troop 820 – Bayou
Thomas Keller – Troop 227 – Pelican
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are expecting to register, pay, and attend. Also, if you have gone through NYLT before and are interested in staffing, let me know as soon as possible. With the course in jeopardy of making, we need info back as soon as possible. Louis Morrell or I have talked about NYLT at Scoutmaster/SPL dinner last fall, Thanksgiving Camp, Winter Camp, Program Preview, OA meetings … anywhere we had a venue. It’s up to you now to help us figure whether or not the course will make!
Yours in Scouting,
Kelly Rodrigue
