Hi,

Shortly the invertor first converts AC with fixed value and frequency into DC and then trnsforms DC (exactly voltage) into AC with variable value and frequency. PWM (pulse-with- modulation) is the approach to regulate the value of voltage and to form it closer to the sine wave.
