“It’s just one fiasco after another, year after year,” said Lulu Friesdat, executive director of Smart Elections, an elections reform group. “The fact that we haven’t made the effort to change that is shocking. It’s appalling.”

- Regarding the current blunder at the New York City Board of Elections, where they mixed in 130,000 test ballots with actual results. Just one more incident, in a long history of incompetence.

The Board was described yesterday as a "patronage mill" by Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. State officials are now saying they will hold hearings - but we need to make sure that this time, we finally get meaningful changes and transparency. New Yorkers deserve fair, accurate and well-administered elections.
