Open Source Software in Elections

NYC Primary Was the Largest Use of Ranked Choice Voting in the U.S.

Open Source Software &

Ranked Choice Voting

  • The New York City Primary was the largest implementation of ranked choice voting in U.S. elections

  • It may be the largest implementation of open source software in U.S. elections

New York City chose an open source tabulator to count almost 1 million ballots in the June primary. The sytem is made by the Ranked Choice Voting Research Center. It's called the Ranked Choice Voting Universal Tabulator.

Open-source software has been supported by many election protection advocates for years. What does it mean now that it's here?

And how can we know the results are correct when 135k test ballots were initially included in the count?

Join us to discuss the promise of open source software in elections, the pros & cons of ranked choice voting, and why competent administration of elections is so critical now!

"This episode was very exciting & ... informative, having paperboy tell his story like that was fantastic."

Did you miss the last episode? No worries. Catch the fun now. We interviewed Paperboy Prince, an innovative candidate in the NYC Mayoral Primary & talked about our Brooklyn Transparency Project where we found indications there may have been 700 more ballots than voters in one location. Yes, that matters.

    Connecting with Young Voters

Our Executive Director participated in this excellent panel on youth voting

This excellent panel focuses on how to get young voters involved in the battle to improve our elections, not just tune out when they encounter obstacles, corruption or a lack of fairness. Featuring some of New York's most active and engaged advocates. A wonderful opportunity to hear their priorities and solutions.
