I don't even remember what was in the last update I sent out, so this
is going to be a bit of an overview. I've been continuing to learn in
Yeshivah, which has been made difficult the last few months by
problems with my eyes which make it difficult for me to read for more
than a few minutes at a time. At this point we've pinpointed the
problem and I'm trying visual therapy. If that doesn't work there are
other options. In the mean time I am still planning to stay at the
Yeshivah for the rabbinic program, and to take a tour guiding course
which will start, G!d willing, some tie this summer.
Of course when G!d closes a door he opens a window, and everything is
hashgachah-prati (divine providence). I have been able to spend much
more time than I otherwise would have to getting to know Daniella. A
few weeks ago I was able to take off on a few days' notice to take her
to Denver to meet my family.
As to what's going on in my life these days specifically: On Wednesday
I rented a car for the day and we drove to Hebron, where, despite 11
years in the country, she had never been. There we visited the
parents: Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Jacob and Leah, Yitzchak and
Rivkah. We prayed, we meditated, and so on. When we were done,we
went outside and were sitting in a little grassy area by the side,
about 20 feet from the spot traditionally known as the very opening to
the Garden of Eden. I gave her a large box of chocolates, and when
she saw a jewelry box inside I got down on one knee and popped the
question.
After a few minutes, once she stopped breathing too hard to speak, she
said yes.
So, with thanks to the Holy One Blessed be He who, the Gemarra says,
spends his days making shidduchim (matches)--a task as 'difficult' as
the splitting of the Red Sea--with joy in our hearts and love and awe
of the Creator, Daniella and I will, G!d willing, be getting married
sometime in June in the Holy City of Jerusalem. May you all be
blessed with such joy.

Wishing everybody a Shabbat shalom, with love,
