For many people, spanking is their first introduction to kink, but it
can be so much more. Spanking provides a specific pleasure/pain
connection, due to its focus on the sweet spot. This class covers the
range of spanking scenes, including sensual, punishment, role play,
and more. We’ll provide demos and step-by-step instructions, from
negotiation to positions to pacing to aftercare. Includes tips to
help a bottom relax and enjoy the spanking. We’ll cover the emotional
impact (and potential pitfalls) of childhood associations. The class
is suitable for beginners to aficionados. You’ll always have your
toys with you. This is a “hands-on” workshop, not just a lecture and
demo. Plenty of spanking time, for those inclined.
The evening has four parts (times approximate):
7 – 7:30 Brown Bag Munch
7:30 – 8 Brief Introduction
8-9:30 Demos and Hands-on Workshop
9:30-10:30 Open practice, using spanking and paddling in a scene of
your choice.
You don’t need to bring anything. Some attendees bring paddles or
straps. Undressing permitted, but not required. You may bring your
general toy bag for the open practice period. You might also want to
bring a pillow and/or a sheet, towel or blanket.
Paideia (“pie DAY ah”) is a Greek word meaning “learning through
play”. Paideia evenings are more than regular workshops. First we
socialize. You may bring your dinner or snacks to eat during the
munch period. Then we see demos. Then we do the guided hands-on
workshop. You’ll mainly work in pairs learning and refining your
skills. Then during the open practice period, you may integrate your
new skills with other play techniques. Or you may do more practice,
or watch the variety of techniques that others practice.
Partners: Some of tonight’s exercises might be doable alone, but they
are much more effective done in pairs. If you want to find a suitable
partner in advance, we recommend you join and post on the vent thread

What past attendees have said:
“So many cheeks, so little time.”
“Paideia offers an amazing array of play styles. I’m really extending
my range”
“A class, a practice, and a munch. The best way to spend a Thursday.
I come every month, no matter what the topic.”

“First Hand: Spanking and Paddling workshop” is part of the Paideia
series of monthly BDSM/leather events / workshops mainly for those of
intermediate or advanced experience. The format intends to combine
the best elements of hands-on workshops, a munch, a practice period,
and a peer workshop. More than a dozen topics are planned for these
workshops, on both common and exotic topics. We have developed a core
study group who want to increase the depth and breadth of their play,
as well as have fun together.
