I sent Chelsea an email but I'm posting this response for the benefit
of others with similar questions.
Hey there Chelsea,
My name is Morgan Hoke and I'm a senior staffer on the Pambamarca
Project. I thought maybe I could answer your questions that Sam
posted on our project board (
http://groups.google.com/group/
ecuadorprogram/topics) This google group, along with our other web
based communities that can be found by following this link
http://www.columbia.edu/itc/anthropology/v1007/PAP_PUBLIC/onlinegroups.html
, are going to be the best way for you to find someone flying to and
from the project at the same time as you. I suggest you try to get to
know some of the other students and/or staff that have signed up for
the project and see if you can work out gettting on the same flight or
even arranging your flights together if they haven't already done so.
While I understand your parents' nerves when it comes to you flying
alone, let me reassure you and them that it is just as safe as flying
in the US and there will be someone from the project waiting to pick
you up at the airport.
As for your departure date, plan to leave the 26th. While the program
officially ends the 25th, there is usually an end of project dinner
that happens on that last night and I'm sure you;ll want to stick
around for that. We can get you a ride to the airport and you'll find
it's pretty simple, cheap, and safe to take a cab around Quito.
I hope this answers your questions and if you have anymore please
don't hesitate to email me. I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Morgan
