What more can I say. Tags would be very good, along with a set of
nested tag folders

Any input/ideas on how to implement tags in a clean way is more than
welcome.
This seems to be the next feature needed. Number one request right
now :-)

Thanks

My thoughts re tags:
Understand tags to be nothing more than another way to file, organize
or categorize something that could just as easily be another folder
like "Projects" and "Context".

I think you might want to consider using something other than
"Categories" for the (mostly) time related categories, and that
"Categories" actually could be anything (as could tags). I noticed you
refer to the left pane as the "Categories column" in EasyTask Help.
All this is just MHO.

"Focus" (as Things uses) isn't right either, as "Focus" should really
incorporate many (any number of) aspects (eg Project: Work/
CoverDesign; Context: Office/Mac; Category: Next 7 Days; Tags: Urgent
& Priority1) You might use Focus as a way to allow a user to define
sets of aspects allowing one to easily focus however broadly or
narrowly one might want (like in Perspectives in OF; Focus is a better
term than Perspectives IMHO). This might also be implemented via Tabs,
rather than another folder in the left pane.

I would consider letting tags (perhaps optionally) be folders in the
left pane, as they really are just another way of differentiating
tasks, and there is no good reason to see them any other way, as it
only adds to confusion in the way folks think about tags (as if they
are something "special"). I could just as easily give a task a tag
called "Work/Cover Design" as stick it in a project folder called Work/
Cover Design. Ditto re areas, etc.

I'd encourage offering an initial set of sample "tags", bearing in
mind some of them might need variables (eg duration; or consider
adding duration to the standard set of task info). I think what folks
are looking for in a task manager is to a large extent a predefined
structure, so predefining some tags would also help with that
structure. It is important to ask what folks now feel they are missing
with the absence of tags.

A reply to my own posting (noting it is also not strictly about
"Tags", though I consider "Tags" to include everything)

I've been thinking about the present "Categories"'; proximity,
temporal proximity, presence, and priority, all came to mind (with
Temporal Proximity being the most adequate if it wasn't a lofty mouth
full.

I finally decided my suggestion would be simply "Time"

So, my preferred left pane would include in order:

In Box
Focus
Time
Projects
Context
Tags
Completed (or I'd consider "Done", "Log" or "Finished")

Notes:
-Being able to reorder this for personal preference would be good.
-In Box would stand alone, "Completed" could remain in "Time" or be at
the bottom alone
-I like the idea of being able to keep a log of somethings but not all
completed tasks thus the reason for "Log"
-"Focus" would be like OF perspectives, where different categories
could be combined to define current focus, the idea is that "context"
doesn't alone provide enough focus sometimes.(eg: This morning I need
to "focus" on Project A3 tasks that are due today, and relate to
"proofs")

Which reminds me, Project templates would be good, for recurring
projects of course. Ditto re contexts (eg two grocery stores, two
business trips: taxi; airport rental car; hotel; etc..)

Would it be too much trouble to add the version number to the install
file name? I keep copies of all the installer programs for the
software I buy as digital downloads in case I need a reinstall. So
instead of EasyTaskManager.dmg it would be something like
EasyTaskManagerV2.0.11.dmg or possibly even EasyTaskManager-Tiger-
V2.0.11.dmg or "Leopard". No big deal, just a wish list thing.
