Memorial Day is upon us, and along with it often comes mixed emotions.
On one hand it is a bit sad as we honor those who have lost their
lives serving our country. This may be an especially meaningful day
for those of you who have lost a family member. On the other hand, it
is also often looked upon as the weekend that begins the summer
months. Although summer does not officially start until the third week
in June; many schools are beginning summer vacation around this time
and the weather is generally also beginning to resemble summer.

It is our hope that this e-book will help you share some quality time
with your family as you take in the weekend. Set aside some time to
share with your kids what this day is about. Then enjoy a family BBQ
and perhaps create a craft project together.

Flag Cake

1 package white cake mix
1 8-ounce container frozen whipped topping (thawed)
1 pint blueberries rinsed and drained
2 pints strawberries rinsed and sliced
Prepare cake according to package directions and bake in a 9x13 inch
pan. Cool completely.

Frost cake with whipped topping. Place blueberries in a square in the
top left corner, and arrange sliced strawberries as stripes to make an
American flag. Chill until serving.
