2018 US Youth Worlds Selection Events Update

Shortly after US Sailing published the selection events for the 2018 Youth Worlds, the US 29er Class Association formally requested that the 29er selection events be changed - to make them more accessible to those traveling great distances and to be less intrusive to academic schedules.  

US Sailing considered our proposal but elected to not to make any changes.  We continued to lobby for a change.  Today (November 3), US Sailing reaffirmed their commitment to use the events as they originally proposed.  All sailors that are interested in competing in the selection events can now trust that the dates and venues chosen by US Sailing are firm.

The Class Association, which owns and operates the 29er Midwinters East regatta, will now focus on working with US Sailing to make it a successful selection event.  Midwinters East will be held in Miami on March 16-18.  See www.29ernorthamerican.org for additional information.

We encourage any sailors without the resources to transport their own boat to these events to contact Zim Sailing - which recently stepped up to providing charter boats at both selection events.
