The event and survey will help us conduct more effective outreach by understanding the community better. To reach the entire community, understanding the barriers, motivations, etc. of each constituent group (renters, homeowners, students, employees, etc.) within Mountain View is critical. We had analyzed the Task Force survey data and public data to design this current survey, which is focused on finding out specific motivations, barriers, and outreach channels we can use to empower the community to partake in our programs. Recognizing that motivations differ across topic areas, we asked some questions in the survey relating to specific Task Force recommendation topics to help better understand motivations.
Building on the work of the Task Force, the community meeting will be our next step in our ongoing conversation with the community. We will dive in-depth on the gaps and follow-up questions we would want to learn more about from the survey, so that the City can really target our messaging to what each community group would like to hear. Up until now we’ve mostly been doing “one size fits all” outreach, but going forward we’ll use this data to create targeted messaging for each group and tailor outreach and implementation of City programs developed from the Task Force recommendations around what would motivate/interest different populations.
I hope that clarifies the purpose of the event, especially for those who have volunteered to be table leads, but please don't hesitate to reach out if you need more information about anything.
I've attached a new version of the flyer; if you haven't already sent something out to your networks we would really appreciate you sharing the flyer with them!
Thanks,
Hannah
