Availability for Fri 3/2 B&LU meeting? Possible to move to afternoon? Also, potential guests

Hi there,

Would you guys like to keep the Friday morning 3/2 10-11:30am meeting?  I actually have a conflict myself in the morning, but could be available in the afternoon.  Can I get a quick response on what your availability is for next Friday (with time ranges)?  Keep in mind the Task Force meeting will be the evening before.

I'm also trying to schedule conversations with Kevin Bates and James Tuleya (info below) to talk about commercial and residential existing buildings.  If this is of interest to the whole group, I can try to see if they would be available later in the day next Friday (depending on everyone's availability).  Alternatively, we can schedule smaller meetings with just the folks digging into these areas.

- Kevin Bates, founder of Sharp Development - specializes in innovative renovations of existing commercial buildings.  Mike and David attended a talk in December at the ZNE for Existing Buildings workshop that he was a part of.  The ZNE for EB presentation is attached.  David also had found a very inspiring youtube video of the Sharp project renovating the Supreme Court Athletic Center in Sunnyvale.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGKBewd8BSw&feature=youtu.be.  Here is a link to some of their projects:  http://sharpdevco.com/projects/

- James Tuleya from High Energy Audits (HEA) - Between 2011 and 2014, Mountain View worked Acterra and High Energy Audits (a small local software company - many of you know Lisa and Steve Schmidt) to run the Energy Upgrade Mountain View program.  Acterra provided the in-home audits with trained volunteers, and HEA provided the website that pulled PG&E data to show your home's energy load patterns, and make recommendations.  Their focus is primarily around reducing plug-loads, but the report did show savings in natural gas as well.  They had 2,000 MV participants - mostly single-family homes.  You can read more in the EUMV program final report.  The HEA folks probably know more about the energy usage patterns of Mountain View residents more than anyone else, given they had the data for 3 years, and were working directly with Acterra and the City of Mountain View on outreach.  James also is a member of the Customer Programs Advisory Group of SVCE, so I think this is a good chance to get their thoughts on what kind of electrification programs they may run in the future.

Hi Emily,

I am available for the 10 am time slot. I am not available after that. However, I have heard both Kevin Bates and Steve Schmidt talk. They are certainly worth hearing. I believe that Kevin's talk is especially inspiring as they take crummy old Silicon Valley office buildings and transform them into clean, human and nature friendly spaces with resulting happier tenants, higher rents and lower operating costs. It is truly amazing that all developers don't follow his example.

Please make your tine decision to benefit the majority. I also have a conflict during the evening of March 1 that I set up before the extra meeting time was set.... sorry to miss you all.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!  James Tuleya will join us Friday, 3/2 @ 12:30pm.  I will find a conference room.  If anyone is free afterwards, we can talk about any new findings and thoughts on recommendations. 

I will try to find another week for Kevin Bates to join us.
