Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Deadline Soon!
|
|
The deadline for the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program applications is fast approaching! Applications are due Tuesday, January 16. For all application materials please visit the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s website.
Yesterday, January 9 was the last day to submit questions to AHSC Program staff and California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff on the application and greenhouse gas quantification. Please check the most recently updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for helpful tips and application information. For answers to your questions on greenhouse gas quantification, please refer to CARB’s FAQ.

Caltrans Releases First Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment
|
|
Caltrans has released its first of 12 district Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments – District 4 San Francisco Bay Area. This Assessment demonstrates Caltrans’ commitment to understanding climate change, preparing adaptation strategies, and increasing the resilience of California’s transportation system. Apply for Caltrans Transportation Planning Grants!
|
|
A total of $40.8 million is currently available for transportation planning projects statewide! Grant Application Guides, application forms, and templates are now posted on the Division of Transportation Planning Grants Website for the following grants:
- Sustainable Communities Grants ($29.5 million) to encourage local and regional planning that furthers state goals, including, but not limited to, the goals and best practices cited in the Regional Transportation Plan guidelines adopted by the California Transportation Commission.
- Strategic Partnerships Grants ($4.3 million) to identify and address statewide, interregional, or regional transportation deficiencies on the State highway system in partnership with Caltrans. New for FY 2018-19 is a transit component that will fund planning projects that address multimodal transportation deficiencies with a focus on transit.
- Adaptation Planning Grants ($7 million) to support planning actions at local and regional levels that advance climate change efforts on the transportation system.
The application deadline is February 23, 2018 at 5:00 PM.

New Request for Proposals for the 2018 Social Equity Grant Program
|
California ReLeaf has released a Request for Proposals for 2018 Social Equity Tree Planting Grant Program, with up to $800,000 in funding for tree planting projects throughout the state. Applications are due no later than Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
ReLeaf will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, 12:00-1:00 pm to help guide people through the application and answer any questions about our grant guidelines and other materials. Register here for the webinar.
Community Grant workshops will be held in various locations across the state this January. Application materials and more information about these workshops can be found on ReLeaf's website.

California Ocean Protection Council Prop 1 Grant
|
The California Ocean Protection Council (OPC), part of the California Natural Resources Agency, is pleased to announce a new solicitation for grant proposals for projects benefiting California’s ocean and coast, made possible with funding from Proposition 1.
Applications are due February 23, 2018 and must be submitted online via the SOAR grant application system. Applicants should carefully review the OPC Proposition 1 Grant Guidelines, the Grant Proposal Solicitation and Application Instructions, and the forms and templates found on the OPC’s Prop 1 webpage.
Public outreach events are being planned for January and February in various locations around the State. Details on public meetings will be posted as available via the OPC Prop 1 webpage, the OPC email list and Twitter.

Webinar: Climate Change and Disability in California
|
|
On Wednesday, January 17 from 12-2 PM (PT), the World Institute on Disability will be hosting a webinar looking at the connection between climate change and disability. As climate change continues, the disability community will be uniquely impacted by its many effects, from stronger storms to heat waves to displacement and migration. This online event will explore the many impacts of climate change on our community, with a special focus on the state of California. The webinar will include the following:
- Climate Change and Disability: an Introduction
- Climate Change in California Moving Forward: Wildfires, Heat Waves, and Storms
- The 2017 Fires and Inclusive Emergency Response (Vance Taylor, Cal OES)
