Compassionate Communication of Central Ohio ~ www.nvcohio.org

March 22, 2009

From: Jerry Saunders, Chair of Board of Directors

Dear CC-CO Community:

Last summer Tracy and Andy shared with the Board their desire to
transition from active day to day leadership of CC-CO this June. As a
result, the Board has been engaged in a thoughtful process, over
several months, to select new leadership to guide CC-CO and its
mission in the community beginning June 1, 2009.

On behalf of the CC-CO Board of Trustees, I am happy and excited to
announce that Jeff Brown has been hired to become the next Executive
Director of CC-CO beginning June 1st and Carol Fisher has been invited
to be an Associate contributing to Member Development and
Fundraising. Many of you know both Jeff and Carol and I imagine that
you too will want to let them know how much their leadership will mean
to all of us going forward! Jeff plans to move here from St. Louis
this Spring and we will do everything possible to support him during
this transition. I want to share a bit of information about each of
them.........

Blessings,
Jerry

ABOUT JEFF:

Jeff Brown has been a full-time Compassionate Communication trainer
for 4 years, leading workshops in 15 U.S. states and 4 countries,
including Japan and South Korea. He's active in the Alliance for
Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a regional organization for the
Midwest.

Jeff was born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio. He is a certified
trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, the organization
founded by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the creator of NVC.

Jeff shares, "I am honored to have been selected by the Board of
Trustees as the next Executive Director of CC-CO. I have led several
trainings in Central Ohio, and from the beginning, I sensed there was
something special about this community. Compassionate Communication
has been a life-changing practice for me, empowering me personally to
have more inner peace and thriving relationships, as well as equipping
me with a tool to contribute to social change."

He continues, "as the new director of CC-CO, I am committed to
leading through personal example.... by embodying the practices of NVC
in my life, and in my interactions in the community. Also I intend to
increase NVC's impact in the community at large, both by strengthening
our existing NVC community and by reaching out to organizations in
Central Ohio who can benefit from NVC in their work.

He closes,"As a native of Ohio, I am happy to return to my home
state and bring full circle what I have learned and experienced with
NVC around the world. I am excited and looking forward to it!"

ABOUT CAROL:

Carol Fisher worked for more than ten years at Children's Hospital as
an educator developing and implementing outreach programs for health
departments, social service agencies, and hospitals. Since her
retirement 5 years ago, Carol has been active in the local community
organization, Simply Living, focusing on event coordination,
organizational planning, and member development. Dedicated to NVC
principles, which she sees as integral to the emergence of a
compassionate
community. Her interests lay in nurturing the process by which an
organization maintains and strengthens its structure as it grows.

Carol shares,"It has been my privilege to watch and at times be a part
of CC-CO during its formative phases. I look forward to assisting as
CC-CO explores how it might grow engaged members, develop sustainable
funding, and develop resiliency during this transition time for CC-CO
and for our community."

Congratulations, Jeff! I'm guessing this meets needs of yours for
recognition and others in that family of needs.

I'm inclined to poke some playful fun at you about receiving the lofty
title of Executive Director from the Board of Trustees: Can I say woo-
woo if I do it with a smile on my face? Can I remind you not to
forget your connections with your "humble origins" so I can say that I
knew you when?

In all seriousness, though, I'm really glad to see this development
because I trust your heart and your effectiveness as a leader. And in
a spirit of celebration, this is the icing on the cake after what you
shared in your regional report at our meeting last week! In fact,
since I haven't yet posted the minutes, I will add this piece to your
report. (If you object to my doing so, you need only say the word and
I'll remove it....) In other words, thank you for providing the
icing, and I'm delighted to have the opportunity (and your trust) to
spread it on the cake! This meets needs of mine for celebration,
autonomy, and integrity/trust.
