First of all, I want to acknowledge that this is short notice.
However, at this juncture in the life of the NVC Global Network, I
think it's really important that we put our heads and hearts together
to remind ourselves and each other of who in our Network has exhibited
the leadership qualities and vision that we respect and admire. These
will be the people that we want to nominate to speak on behalf of the
NVC Global Network (us!) during the GCC strategic planning process.
There is no limit to the number of people each of us can suggest, so
it's not like we will be deciding among candidates. So I'd like to
get together with the people whose opinions I trust and facilitate a
one-hour heartstorming session.
That discussion will be the only agenda item. That's why this is a
"special" meeting.
The catch is that, while the GCC is not requesting "consolidated"
group input, they are asking for our nominations by June 20th! That
means we have only the rest of this week to decide on a time/date to
meet in order to actually have the meeting by the middle of next week
so that we'll have a day or two to sit with what we share before
filling out the form(s).
So I've launched a doodle at this link:
http://www.doodle.com/39gzcwskgirzucnc
Notice that there is a horizontal scroll bar; there are 30 times/dates
from which to choose. There are both weekend and weekday options, and
there are both early and late options. I realize that "early" and
"late" are relative terms; remember that in order to keep the hours
between 10:00p.m. and 6:00a.m. "sacred" for our entire slice of the
Global Network (Brazil to Hawaii), you may find that there are no
morning options or no evening options in your particular time zone.
So please grab your day planner AS SOON AS YOU GET THIS MESSAGE and go
to the above link and let me know when it would be possible for you to
participate - or observe, if that is your preference.
Even if you have already filled out your ballot(s), you are still
welcome to attend this special meeting. Conversely, in case you would
not enjoy being on the call or are not able to be available due to
prior commitments that you choose to keep, I encourage you to let your
voice be heard anyway. The ballot is an input form that is linked
here:

There is also a link in the same yahoo message to the spreadsheet
itself where the recommendations from everywhere can be viewed at any
time - and they are already starting to trickle in.
This is so cool that the GCC is doing this! Back in October, when I
was a volunteer for CNVC to collect input for the Board's strategic
planning process, nobody asked the Network who should be interviewed.
(Actually, I proposed a "fifth tier" [Board, GCC, professional staff,
and clerical staff were the first four tiers] of global leaders, and I
was amazed and delighted to see all of them included on my "short
list.") Nobody asked the Network who should be invited to participate
in the two global conference calls. Thank you, GCC, for asking the
Network who to invite to your strategic planning teleconferences! And
a special thank you to Glenda for setting up a system for easily
collecting and sorting the responses - and Glenda, I never thought I'd
be thanking you for a spreadsheet!
