In this current economic climate it sometimes seems impossible to
think of employment let alone art job opportunities, but the web is
opening up some great stuff....or is it?
Well personally I think there are some great opportunities for artists
online but it depends on what you are looking for and what type of job
is going to fill your creative needs and aspirations. If you are
looking for a salaried job then some of the internet offers aren't
going to be what you're after. You will be better off looking down the
more conventional roads and hunt out some of the big creative
employment agencies like Aquent, one of the worlds largest with
offices in 10 countries.
But if you are open to being a little more creative, perhaps using
your art skills and passion with a few niche sites will be more
beneficial.
There are a few out there that allow you to submit work, of various
types and standards, where it is then presented to buyers. If it sells
you get paid. Believe it or not the lists of buyers is long and wide
ranging from Doctors and Lawyers right thru to Teachers and Web
designers.
What do these art job opportunity sites offer and what should you look
out for?
Aim for something that:
1. Is automated. The less online work you have to do the better. You
can then concentrate on producing quality content.
2. Allows you to submit an unlimited amount of material. This betters
your chances of finding a buyer.
3. Has a moderate standard. if standard is too high you may never sell
any art work.
4. Various formats. by this I mean look for a site/company that sells
drawings, paintings etc and even photos
5. Automatic pay methods. Having a site that finds buyers, sells your
work and then pays you through a reliable service is great. A lot
easier than chasing payment yourself.
