This conference, organized by the Université Libre de Bruxelles, will focus on the productivity of the South African post-apartheid period of drama, theatre and performance. This period has been characterized by a reinvention with playwrights and theater makers seeking to come to terms with the traumatic legacy of the pre-democratic past that speakers will try to document. Conference presentation are accepted by 26 September 2016 about a wide range of topics concerning South African theatre scenario. An evening of readings from these playwrights’ and theatre practitioners’ works will be held during the conference.
